Beaches Public Library . 2004

In Joint Venture with Kingsland + Architects

This small Carnegie Branch Library occupies a central location within the popular Beaches community.  In the 1980's an addition was constructed which obscured this important heritage structure.  The project involved the addition of a new 2-storey wing to the building and returning the entrance to its original location, while making the whole project barrier free.  The addition and renovation restores this wonderful building and provides it with modern electronic library capabilities.  The addition is noted for its compatibility with the original building, and exposes this building once more to Kew Park in which it sits.  The community, which participated in the design process, has enthusiastically welcomed this renovation and addition.
